If a bracket pops off, it is important to contact our office as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for repair.
If the bracket is still attached to the wire, you can use orthodontic wax to hold it in place and prevent it from moving around or causing discomfort. If the bracket has completely fallen out of your mouth, pick it up and place it in a clean container to bring to our office during your repair appointment.
If your archwire is poking you, use orthodontic wax to cover the end and contact our office for a wire adjustment. Avoid DIY fixes like cutting the wire or using an eraser to push it back into place, as this can cause further damage to your braces and delay your treatment progress.
Braces can sometimes cause irritation or soreness in the mouth, particularly in the early stages of treatment. This is normal and usually resolves on its own as the mouth adjusts to the braces.
To alleviate discomfort, use orthodontic wax to cover any brackets or wires irritating your cheeks and other soft tissues. Over-the-counter pain relievers can also help reduce discomfort. If the discomfort persists or becomes severe, contact your orthodontist for advice on managing the issue.
